Trying to break out of prison isn’t the easiest thing in the world, but there are ways to make it easier. In this article, you’ll learn a few of the tricks that could help you do it.
Escape from high-security prison
During the second Palestinian intifada, Gilboa Prison opened. It was built to hold the “most dangerous” Palestinian prisoners. Some of the prisoners were identified as Islamic Jihad members.
Several inmates were suspected of planning attacks against Israelis. One was convicted of several deadly shootings in 2018. A second was a commander of an armed group affiliated with the Fatah party. Another was a former commander of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, which carried out deadly attacks against Israelis during the uprising.
The Israel Prisons Service said the escape occurred around 1:30 am on Monday. The Shin Bet security service was helping search for the six fugitives.
The Israeli newspaper Haaretz called the escape “a serious incident.” The Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said the escape was “a significant failure of the occupation army.” He vowed to do all he could to find the prisoners.
The escaped prisoners were thought to be heading to Jenin, a town in the occupied West Bank, where the militants have openly clashed with the Israeli forces in recent weeks. They used the cover of darkness to sneak past checkpoints. The Israeli army said it prepared the area for an operation.
The escaped prisoners were captured within a day of the event. The Israeli Defense Forces said they had aerial surveillance vehicles, drones and checkpoints set up in the area. They also said they had received suspicious people traveling in the area of the prison.
Using a hacksaw
Using a hacksaw to break out of prison is not something you should do. But there have been cases in which prisoners did just that. A recent case involves two inmates who escaped from a maximum security state prison in Alabama.
The story goes that the escaping felons claimed to have used hacksaw blades to cut through the walls of a prison cell. The tools were smuggled into the jail via frozen hamburger meat. The blades were then concealed inside a dowel rod.
One of the inmates was convicted of housebreaking, while the other was convicted of attempted murder. A pair of power tools were also used to sever a 24-inch steam pipe.
The escaped convict has also been charged with promoting prison contraband. A pair of fugitives planned to kill the wife of a prison employee.
The escaped convict also allegedly ordered an accomplice to smuggle in a hacksaw blade. He then ordered the blade to be put in a Fortnum & Mason care package. The fugitives hid the hacksaw blade in a rope of dirty laundry.
A surviving accomplice, Sweat, also said he made a “stage-by-stage” escape. He was arrested 22 days after the escape. He wore a prison jumpsuit, and answered questions in a quiet voice. He said he saw a clearing behind the powerhouse. He hewed away at the pipe until a hole was big enough. He then crawled into the pipe to whittle an exit.
Cutting holes in adjacent cells
Putting the old adage about a hole in one in a different context, it’s no surprise that some of these high profile inmates are slinking it out. In the name of the holy grail of prisoner secrecy, a naughty nanny isn’t all that welcome in the confines of a secure institution. Fortunately, the big and small men in blue are up to their elbows in the dirt. In fact, some of them are in the same cell block, albeit on the other side of the fence. The following are the more notable ones: (a) a gaff; (b) an inmate that isn’t; and (c) a sleazy ex-prisoner who will go unnoticed for the duration of his or her incarceration. Luckily for these unfortunates, the state of New York has a well-funded anti-recidivism program that has successfully put these felons to work for a price. They have since gotten their comeuppances. Nevertheless, there’s a chance that this opportunist will be back in the fold within a week. Aside from the aforementioned thugs, a few ne’er-do-wells have found their way out of the fold, albeit in the most logical manner.
Using a handcuff key
Using a handcuff key to break out of prison isn’t necessarily easy, but with a bit of practice and muscle memory, it’s not impossible. While there are many different types of keys, a few of the more common ones are designed to be easy to use.
There are also special high security handcuffs that are designed to be pick resistant. These tend to be keyed individually, and you will need a different key to open them. Some manufacturers produce cuffs with keyholes on both sides.
Another way to break out of prison is to use a makeshift key. You can find plastic keys in unusual places. These are sometimes found in Swiss army knives. You can also use a toothpick from a Swiss army knife. A key only needs to be half way into the lock to be pickable.
If you are going to use a makeshift key, try to put it in the cuff so it only fits halfway into the lock. It’s also important to keep your body flexible. This will help you get out of the cuffs.
When it comes to picking locks, you should try to avoid metal detectors. A paper clip or shim can be used to straighten it. Bracing the middle of your fingers will also help.
Another way to break out of prison using a handcuff key is to hide it. In Moore’s case, he hid it in his hand splint, which helped him avoid metal detectors.
Making guards believe inmates are in their cells
Creating a lock that is impossible to open is an exercise in futility. However, making guards believe that inmates are actually in their cell may have the desired effect.
There are a number of ways to accomplish this feat. For instance, many inmates construct makeshift dummies out of shoes, hair and other miscellaneous items. Using these dummies to make false noises can help fool guards into believing that the prisoner is in his cell.
Another tactic is to create a door that is impossible to unlock. In some cases, prisoners have even carved out a tunnel outside of the facility.
Another notable trick is to make a homemade weapon. Some prisoners have smuggled firearms into the prison and used them to break out of their cells. Others have escaped through the vents in their cells.
A number of current and former prison officers have described assaults by inmates who attempted to open their own cells. These incidents are investigated and reported by the highest levels of agency.
Putting it all together, the Stanford County prison is an example of a jail that tries to recreate the experience of being a prisoner. In addition to the fanciful sex test, there are dozens of other gimmicks designed to fool prison officers.
A narrator in one of the videos describes an escape that was a gang meeting. In the meantime, the guards had to force the ringleaders into solitary confinement.
Penalties for a prison escape
Getting caught escaping from a prison is bad news. Not only does it entail prison time, but the escapee has to face official penalties as well. These penalties vary according to the nature of the escape, but in general, they include more guards, limited prisoner privileges, and a possible increase in the amount of time spent in custody.
Among the most common prison escape methods involve breaking out of the cell. This can occur through tunneling underground or by breaking down walls. Other common ways are through the window or door. Some inmates also use smuggled items or weapons.
Other prison escape techniques involve utilizing the elusive makeshift dummy. These are often made of a shoe or stuffed with miscellaneous materials. Some inmates have even used homemade tools to help them break out of their cells.
Assisting in a prison escape is a more serious charge than the actual act of escaping. This is because a prisoner may be able to receive help from others who are outside the walls of the facility. They may even receive help from a helicopter.
The laws regarding helping a prisoner escape may vary from state to state. Depending on the jurisdiction, the person who assists in an escape may face a fine, imprisonment, or both. If the assistance is offered for an enemy alien or a prisoner of war, the penalties are much stiffer.
